Borehole into Earth’s Mantle Technical Review and Risk Reduction Study for BEAM Preface: Here is the final open IODP-Management International (IODP-MI) report on “High Impact Systems (Rock Bits, Coring and More) Technical Review and Risk Reduction Study” prepared by the Blade Energy Partners for the purpose of identifying and providing technical review and proposing risk reduction process for equipment and services to substantially reduce mantle drilling time and risk. This report is a natural follow-up from the mantle drilling initial feasibility study conducted by IODP-MI in 2011. (http://www.iodp.org/mantle-drilling-preliminary-resources) Major support for this BEAM report came from Alfred P. Sloan Foundation also as part of the exploration of fieldwork options for the Deep Carbon Observatory (dco.gl.ciw.edu).
